Survey Says...

Question: would it be cruel of me to post something one of my students wrote? It is not personal in any way and actually only points to my apparent failure as a teacher. I need your opinions on this.

I say YES. Think of your student as a guest blogger. have fun in the moonlight!

I know, but I really want to read it! There must be a way to take out any personal info that could connect him to the paper.

It's not cruel if you don't identify the student. Some English prep schools publish silly things written by pupils in their annual magazine. No one knows who wrote what.

Hmm, sounds like a slippery path to go down though. If The Kids found out they might then write their essays with the possibility of being published in your blog uppermost in their minds!

Okay, so I have three yes and one no so far. Gadjo raises a good point, but if that were true, then maybe they would be more careful in the future! Fear can be a great motivator.

I would absolutely love that. What's the point of being a teacher if you can't have some fun? just block out his/her identity.

I would say yes, just change the wording slightly so that it's not immediately clear who wrote it while still keeping the main message.
